Hong Kong Buybacks Weekly (May 29th): Tencent, AIA, Xiaomi, Wuxi Biologics

Abstract: We analyzed Hong Kong stock buyback activity for the week ended May 29th, based on HKEx daily reports. Total repurchases amounted to HKD 5,919 million across 93 companies, roughly in line with HKD 6,421 million in the prior week, with the number of active repurchasers down 3.1% week-on-week. The top three repurchasers by value were Tencent (700 HK) at HKD 2,003 million, AIA (1299 HK) at HKD 1,418 million, and Xiaomi (1810 HK) at HKD 408 million. Over the past 30 days, AIA led with HKD 4,576 million, followed by Tencent at HKD 4,006 million and China Hongqiao (1378 HK) at HKD 3,080 million, out of total 30-day buybacks of HKD 19,968 million across 133 companies. Wuxi Biologics (2269 HK) returned to the buyback market this week after a four-week absence, spending HKD 100 million.
