Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of May 15th, covering the one-week and four-week periods. The aggregate short value for equities decreased by $1,896m (-1.3%) week-on-week but increased by $4,272m (+3.2%) over the preceding four weeks. The largest short increase over the week was Tencent (700 HK), with short value rising $455m (+16.6%), followed by Midea (300 HK) at +$162m (+27.2%), AIA (1299 HK) at +$137m (+9.6%), and Time Interconnect Technology (1729 HK) at +$106m (+185.4%). On the cover side, Ping An Insurance (2318 HK) saw the largest reduction at -$413m (-4.6%), followed by Zijin Mining (2899 HK) at -$326m (-8.6%), Xiaomi (1810 HK) at -$287m (-4.6%), and Yofc (6869 HK) at -$172m (-14.3%). Over four weeks, Midea (300 HK) led short builds at +$454m (+149.1%), while Alibaba (9988 HK) and CATL (3750 HK) led short covers at -$579m (-21.9%) and -$577m (-19.7%) respectively.
