Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of May 8th. The aggregate short value for equities increased by $6,232m (+4.6%) week-over-week and by $8,318m (+6.3%) over the preceding four weeks. On the short cover side, Tencent saw the largest one-week reduction at -$372m (-12.0%), followed by Meituan (-$119m, -4.7%) and Anta (-$73m, -9.4%), while over four weeks Alibaba led covers at -$740m (-25.2%) and CATL at -$552m (-19.9%). The largest short increases over one week were led by Xiaomi (+$508m, +8.9%), Bidu (+$267m, +30.4%), CATL (+$264m, +13.5%), and Midea (+$254m, +74.3%), with Xiaomi also topping the four-week build at +$988m (+18.8%).
