Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of April 30th, covering the top movers by short value over one-week and four-week periods. The aggregate short value for Hong Kong equities decreased by $1,914m (-1.4%) week-on-week but increased by $4,596m (+3.5%) over the preceding four weeks. The largest short covers over the past week were led by CATL (3750 HK, -$1,003m, -33.9%), Alibaba (9988 HK, -$551m, -21.6%), and CMB (3968 HK, -$286m, -12.9%), while the largest short builds were in Ping An Insurance (2318 HK, +$294m, +3.5%), Xiaomi (1810 HK, +$224m, +4.1%), Wuxi Apptec (2359 HK, +$199m, +18.6%), and Petrochina (857 HK, +$155m, +12.9%). Over four weeks, Alibaba (-$705m, -26.1%) and CATL (-$508m, -20.6%) led short covers, while Xiaomi (+$575m, +11.1%) and Pop Mart Intl (+$506m, +20.2%) saw the largest short builds.
