Abstract: We analyzed ASX short interest as of June 12th, covering stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m. Aggregate short interest totaled USD 47,262m, up 1.4% from USD 46,590m the prior week, while the ASX200 index rose 2.1% over the same period. On the increases side, BHP (BHP AU) led with a short value rise of USD 196m, followed by Pilbara Minerals (PLS AU, +USD 117m), Wesfarmers (WES AU, +USD 79m), Computershare (CPU AU, +USD 66m), and Stockland (SGP AU, +USD 64m). The largest short value decreases were in Sigma Pharmaceuticals (SIG AU, -USD 113m), Nextdc (NXT AU, -USD 109m), Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA AU, -USD 74m), Fortescue (FMG AU, -USD 68m), and REA (REA AU, -USD 62m). By absolute short value, Rio Tinto (RIO AU) remains the most shorted stock at USD 4,340m, ahead of Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA AU) at USD 3,792m and BHP (BHP AU) at USD 3,123m.
