ASX Short Interest Weekly (Jul 3rd): AGL Energy, National Australia Bank, Ampol, Transurban

Abstract: We analyzed ASX short interest data as of July 3rd, covering stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m. Aggregate short interest was USD 45.1bn, up 0.1% week-on-week, while the ASX 200 index gained 0.9% over the same period. On the increases side, AGL Energy (AGL AU) saw the largest surge in ADT-adjusted terms, rising 10.0x ADT with short value up USD 130m (+228.8%), followed by Ampol (ALD AU) with short value up USD 63m (+60.5%) and James Hardie Industries (JHX AU) up USD 71m (+30.0%). On the decreases side, National Australia Bank (NAB AU) saw the sharpest short covering, with short value falling USD 569m (-39.7%) and ADT multiple dropping 4.3x, while Transurban (TCL AU) short value fell USD 171m (-34.2%).
