Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of Jun 26th. The aggregate short value for equities decreased by $7,480m (-5.5%) week-on-week and by $9,379m (-6.8%) over the preceding four weeks, reflecting broad short covering across the market. On the short increase side, Kingboard Laminates (1888 HK) was the standout, with short value rising +$428m (+27.2%) over one week and +$1,226m (+158.7%) over four weeks. On the short cover side, the largest reductions came from Xiaomi (1810 HK, -$838m, -16.6%), Ping An (2318 HK, -$663m, -8.9%), Zijin Mining (2899 HK, -$600m, -20.1%), Tencent (700 HK, -$410m, -13.0%), and Alibaba (9988 HK, -$397m, -24.4%). Over four weeks, AIA (1299 HK) and Sunny Optical (2382 HK) also saw meaningful short cover of -$502m (-29.9%) and -$492m (-31.8%) respectively.
