Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of June 18th. The aggregate short value for equities decreased by $1,654m (-1.2%) week-on-week and decreased by $3,139m (-2.3%) over the preceding four weeks, indicating a broad reduction in bearish positioning. The largest short increases over the past week were led by Kingboard Laminates (1888 HK, +$582m, +58.8%), Lenovo (992 HK, +$382m, +11.5%), and Kingboard (148 HK, +$232m, +83.7%), while Weichai Power (2338 HK, +$207m, +26.1%) and Yangtze Optical Fibre And-H (6869 HK, +$193m, +25.6%) also saw notable builds. On the cover side, Ping An (2318 HK, -$569m, -7.1%), Tencent (700 HK, -$542m, -14.7%), Petrochina (857 HK, -$323m, -26.2%), and CNOOC (883 HK, -$159m, -28.1%) recorded the largest short reductions over the week. Over four weeks, Kingboard Laminates stands out with the largest short build at +$1,104m (+236.4%), while Ping An led covers at -$1,000m (-11.8%).
