Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of Jul 24th. The aggregate short value for equities increased by $6,420m (+4.6%) week-over-week and by $16,762m (+13.1%) over the preceding four weeks. The largest weekly short increases were in Zijin Mining (2899 HK, +$467m, +17.5%), Lenovo (992 HK, +$448m, +13.6%), Ping An (2318 HK, +$426m, +5.6%), Xl2Csophynix (7709 HK, +$285m, +49.2%), and Hua Hong Semi (1347 HK, +$276m, +31.9%); Zijin Gold Intl (2259 HK) also saw a notable increase of +$275m (+54.6%) and Tencent (700 HK) added +$226m (+5.6%). On the cover side, the largest weekly short reductions were in Ntes (9999 HK, -$169m, -10.6%), Ke (2423 HK, -$80m, -20.6%), and Sinotruk Hong Kong (3808 HK, -$58m, -19.0%). Over four weeks, Tencent led short builds at +$1,538m (+56.2%), followed by Ping An (+$1,185m, +17.4%), Alibaba (+$1,153m, +93.5%), and Zijin Mining (+$753m, +31.7%), while Knowledge Atlas (2513 HK) saw the largest four-week cover at -$629m (-41.3%).
