Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of Aug 7th. The aggregate short value for equities increased by $2,071m (+1.5%) week-over-week and by $5,492m (+4.0%) over the preceding four weeks. On the short increase side, the largest weekly movers were Lenovo (+$706m, +19.6%), Wuxi Apptec (+$539m, +27.7%), Zijin Gold Intl (+$374m, +40.4%), and Kingboard Laminates (+$310m, +58.8%). Minimax saw a particularly sharp percentage rise (+$242m, +196.1%). On the short cover side, CCB reduced short interest by $163m (-11.5%) and ICBC by $128m (-9.9%), while BYD saw the largest absolute cover at $199m (-6.2%). Over four weeks, Zijin Gold Intl led all increases at +$881m (+209.9%), while CCB and SMIC each covered approximately $259m in shorts.
