Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of Aug 14th. The aggregate short value for equities decreased by $2,297m (-1.6%) week-over-week but increased by $3,348m (+2.4%) over the preceding four weeks. On the short cover side, JD.com (9618 HK) saw the largest percentage decline among highlighted names, with short interest falling $257m (-23.6%) WoW, while NTES (9999 HK) covered $191m (-12.2%) and Montage Tech (6809 HK) saw a sharp $134m reduction (-38.1%). On the short increase side, Lenovo (992 HK) led with a $936m (+21.7%) weekly build and $1,962m (+59.8%) over four weeks, while Kingboard Laminates (1888 HK) added $111m (+13.2%) WoW and Minimax (100 HK) rose $60m (+16.3%) WoW and $358m (+531.8%) over four weeks. SMIC (981 HK) also saw short interest climb $53m (+12.8%) over the week.
