Abstract: We analyzed ASX short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of April 10th. Aggregate short interest was USD 42,853m, up 11.7% week-on-week, compared to a 4.4% gain in the ASX 200 index, indicating a significant bearish build relative to the broader market. On the increase side, BHP led with a short value rise of USD 602m (+38.1%), followed by Rio Tinto (+USD 430m, +16.3%), Commonwealth Bank of Australia (+USD 403m, +12.9%), Westpac (+USD 211m, +15.8%), and Lynas Rare Earths (+USD 206m, +15.4%). On the decrease side, Woodside Energy saw the largest short reduction at -USD 102m (-6.6%), followed by Transurban (-USD 64m, -18.9%) and Woolworths (-USD 41m, -5.2%). By ADT multiple, Fineos saw the largest weekly increase of +24.1x, while Qbe Insurance recorded an 82.4% rise in short value week-on-week.
