Abstract: We analyzed short interest data for the Stock Exchange of Thailand as of May 1st, covering stocks with minimum market capitalization of USD100 million and minimum short interest of USD5 million, finding aggregate short interest of USD3,227m. Aggregate short interest increased 1.6% week-on-week, slightly underperforming the SET50 index which gained 1.7% over the same period. On the increase side, SCB X (SCB TB) led with a short value rise of USD17m (+11.7%), followed by Delta Electronics (DELTA TB) (+USD13m, +3.9%), SCC (SCC TB) (+USD9m, +6.9%), and Thai Oil (TOP TB) (+USD8m, +28.5%). On the decrease side, Airports of Thailand (AOT TB) saw the largest short value reduction of USD15m (-6.2%), followed by Bangkok Bank (BBL TB) (-USD13m, -17.0%), Kasikornbank (KBANK TB) (-USD8m, -5.2%), and CP Foods (CPF TB) (-USD6m, -10.5%). By z-score of share count change, Regional Container Lines (RCL TB) and Thai Oil (TOP TB) showed the most statistically significant short build-up at +2.7x and +2.5x sigma respectively, while Bangkok Bank (BBL TB) and Amata (AMATA TB) showed the largest reductions.
