Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of Sep 11th. The aggregate short value for equities decreased by $3,311m (-2.3%) week-on-week and by $3,758m (-2.7%) over the preceding four weeks, indicating broad short covering across the market. The largest short increases over the past week were led by Zj Innolight (3308 HK, +$105m, +62.8%), Xl2Csophynix (7709 HK, +$247m, +18.2%), CNOOC (883 HK, +$86m, +21.0%), CCB (939 HK, +$133m, +11.3%), and Tencent (700 HK, +$220m, +6.0%). The largest short covers over the past week were Ping An (2318 HK, -$476m, -5.9%), Lenovo (992 HK, -$279m, -6.0%), BYD (1211 HK, -$254m, -9.1%), Knowledge Atlas (2513 HK, -$247m, -24.2%), Sun Hung Kai Properties (16 HK, -$144m, -17.8%), Ntes (9999 HK, -$141m, -11.6%), and Minimax (100 HK, -$131m, -19.9%).
