Abstract: We analyzed the latest HK SFC report for aggregate short positions as of Sep 25th. The aggregate short value for equities increased by $297m (+0.2%) week-over-week but decreased by $4,345m (-3.0%) over the preceding four weeks. The largest short increases over the past week were led by Alibaba (9988 HK, +$233m, +8.8%), CCB (939 HK, +$165m, +11.7%), Trip.Com (9961 HK, +$153m, +19.9%), Meituan (3690 HK, +$148m, +9.0%), and BOC (3988 HK, +$114m, +14.3%). The largest short covers over the past week were Zijin Gold Intl (2259 HK, -$275m, -15.4%), Lenovo (992 HK, -$248m, -5.2%), Xl2Csophynix (7709 HK, -$213m, -13.8%), and Wanguo Gold Gp (3939 HK, -$77m, -21.9%). Over four weeks, the biggest short build-ups were in CCB (+$357m, +29.3%), AIA (+$314m, +30.9%), Bidu (+$267m, +36.9%), and Trip.Com (+$266m, +40.3%), while the steepest four-week covers were in Zijin Mining (-$639m, -16.5%), Ping An (-$604m, -7.5%), and BYD (-$516m, -16.8%).
