Abstract: We analyzed Bursa Malaysia short interest data as of Sep 25th for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m. Aggregate short interest totaled USD 1,514m, up from USD 1,482m the prior week, a 2.2% increase versus a 0.4% gain in the KLSE index, indicating short sellers added exposure faster than the market rose. The largest short positions by value were Gamuda (USD 189m), RHB Bank (USD 97m), and Malayan Banking (USD 87m). The biggest weekly increases in short value were CIMB (up USD 15m, +38%) and RHB Bank (up USD 13m, +15%), while Guan Chong saw the sharpest relative buildup at +86% in short value and +1.20x ADT. On the cover side, Petronas Chemicals saw the largest short reduction at USD 9.3m (-16%) and Press Metal fell USD 5.6m (-8%). Notable ADT-relative increases were also seen in Frontken (+20% short value), AMMB (+17%), and TIME Dotcom (+7% short value, +0.49x ADT).
