Bursa Short Interest Weekly (Sep 18th): RHB Bank, JPG, Petronas Chemicals, Frontken

Abstract: We analyzed Bursa Malaysia short interest as of Sep 18th across stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m, with aggregate short interest at USD 1,478m, down from USD 1,497m the prior week. Total short interest decreased 1.2% over the week, broadly in line with the KLSE index decline of 1.3%. The largest short increases were in RHB Bank (up USD 21m, +33.1% to USD 84m) and Petronas Chemicals (up USD 6.9m, +13.3% to USD 59m), while the largest decreases were in Gamuda (down USD 8.6m to USD 187m), Press Metal (down USD 8.2m to USD 74m), and Malayan Banking (down USD 7.6m to USD 87m). Among stocks with notable ADT multiples, Frontken and JPG saw short interest rise by +0.21x and +0.41x ADT respectively, while Kossan Rubber Industries saw a decrease of 0.54x ADT. Gamuda remains the most shorted stock by value at USD 187m, and RHB Bank saw the sharpest weekly jump in both absolute terms and as a multiple of ADT (+1.40x).
