Abstract: We analyzed Bursa Malaysia short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of October 2nd, with aggregate short interest at USD 1,438m, down from USD 1,517m a week ago. Short interest decreased 5.3% last week, outpacing the KLSE index decline of 2.4%. The largest short reductions were in YTL Power International (down USD 18.9m, -42.2%), Nestle Malaysia (down USD 4.5m, -43.5%, also the largest ADT multiple decrease at -1.72x), IJM (down USD 6.2m, -37.6%), Inari Amertron (down USD 8.1m, -32.2%), and Frontken (down USD 3.0m, -25.7%). The largest short increases were in CIMB (up USD 6.5m, +12.0%) and RHB Bank (up USD 2.8m, +2.9%). Gamuda remains the most shorted stock by value at USD 182.7m (2.54% of shares outstanding).
