Abstract: We analyzed Bursa Malaysia short interest data as of May 8th, covering stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m. Aggregated short interest totaled USD 564m, up from USD 541m a week ago, a 4.3% increase that outpaced the KLSE index gain of 1.5%. The largest short position by value was Mr D I Y Group (USD 46m), followed by Axiata (USD 39m) and Sime Darby Property (USD 28m). The biggest weekly increase in short value was Gamuda (up USD 2.6m, +13.6%), while Public Bank saw the largest short covering with a USD 4.7m decrease (-46.2%). Frontken posted the sharpest drop in short interest relative to ADT (down 1.31x), while Wellcall saw the largest ADT-relative increase (up 3.72x).
