Bursa Short Interest Weekly (May 1st): Inari Amertron, UEM Sunrise, Public Bank, Ekovest

Abstract: We analyzed Bursa Malaysia short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of May 1st. Aggregate short interest totaled USD 541m, up from USD 526m a week ago, a 2.9% increase, while the KLSE index rose only 0.1%. The largest short positions by value were Mr D I Y Group (USD 45m), Axiata (USD 38m), and Sime Darby Property (USD 26m). The biggest weekly increases in short value were Inari Amertron (up USD 6.7m, +46.3%), UEM Sunrise (up USD 3.1m, +45.1%), and Frontken (up USD 2.3m, +16.8%). The largest short cover activity was in Public Bank (down USD 4.7m, -46.2%) and Ekovest (down USD 2.8m, -32.9%).
