Bursa Short Interest Weekly (Jun 12th): YTL, Mr D I Y Group M, Axiata, Datasonic, AirAsia X

Abstract: We analyzed Bursa Malaysia short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of June 12th, with aggregate short interest at USD 534m. Short interest decreased 2.5% week-on-week while the KLSE index declined 0.6%, indicating short sellers reduced exposure faster than the broader market fell. The largest short reduction was YTL (YTL MK), down USD 15.7m (-61.5%) to USD 9.8m, followed by Mr D I Y Group M (MRDIY MK), down USD 6.9m (-28.3%) to USD 17.5m, and Axiata (AXIATA MK), down USD 2.6m (-27.1%) to USD 7.0m. On the increase side, MY EG Services (MYEG MK) saw the largest build, up USD 2.6m (+13.9%) to USD 21.6m, followed by SP Setia (SPSB MK) up USD 2.3m (+13.4%) to USD 19.7m, and AirAsia X (AAX MK) up USD 1.2m (+46.8%) to USD 3.9m. By value, the most shorted names remain Sime Darby Property (SDPR MK) at USD 38.1m, Top Glove (TOPG MK) at USD 27.9m, and Gamuda (GAM MK) at USD 25.6m. Datasonic (NEXG MK) saw a notable 70.1% increase in short value to USD 1.9m.
