ASX Short Interest Weekly (Aug 14th): CSL, South32, Iress, Computershare, Coles

Abstract: We analyzed ASX short interest as of August 14th, covering stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m, with aggregate short interest at USD 49.4bn (down 1.1% week-on-week), while the ASX200 index fell 1.6% over the same period. The largest shorts by value were Rio Tinto (USD 4,370m), Commonwealth Bank of Australia (USD 3,979m), and BHP (USD 2,999m). The largest weekly increases in short value were CAR (+USD 125m), Pilbara Minerals (+USD 106m), Woodside Energy (+USD 93m), and CSL (+USD 79m, up 15.6%), while the largest decreases were Commonwealth Bank of Australia (-USD 348m), Rio Tinto (-USD 170m), BHP (-USD 133m), and South32 (-USD 46m, down 20.2%). Notable ADT-multiple movers included Iress (short position up 2.7x ADT week-on-week) and Computershare, with Coles seeing a short value decline of USD 39m (-15.4%).
