TWSE Short Interest Weekly (Apr 17th): MediaTek, Formosa Plastics, CTBC Financial, ASE Industrial

Abstract: We analyzed TWSE short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of April 17th. Aggregated short interest stood at USD 38,254m, up 7.1% week-on-week, outpacing the TWSE index which rose 3.9% over the same period. On the increase side, UMC led with a short value rise of USD 336m, followed by ASE Industrial (+USD 150m), MediaTek (+USD 124m), CTBC Financial (+USD 89m), and Cathay Financial (+USD 87m). On the decrease side, Winbond Electronics saw the largest short value reduction at USD 83m, followed by Formosa Plastics (USD 76m) and Wistron (USD 49m). By absolute short value, the top positions were held by UMC (USD 1,395m), Wiwynn (USD 1,138m), and Asustek Computer (USD 1,006m).
