Abstract: We analyzed TWSE short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of April 10th, finding aggregate short interest of USD 35,641m, up 9.8% week-on-week, compared to an 8.7% rise in the TWSE index. The largest short positions by value were UMC (USD 1,059m), Wiwynn (USD 1,055m), and Quanta Computer (USD 996m). The biggest weekly increases in short value were led by UMC (+USD 221m), Nanya Technology (+USD 164m, now at USD 443m total), and Quanta Computer (+USD 122m). MediaTek saw a 74.5% surge in short value to USD 192m (+USD 82m), while CTBC Financial short value rose 30.0% to USD 395m (+USD 91m). On the decreasing side, Lotes saw the largest reduction at -USD 55m (-24.1%), followed by Hon Hai Precision at -USD 26m (-3.1%).
