JPX Margin Trading Weekly (Jul 17th): Kioxia, SoftBank, Yaskawa Electric, Taiyo Yuden, Advantest

Abstract: We analyzed JPX margin trading positions for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of Jul 17th. The aggregated net margin trading position was USD 28,293m, down 8.0% week-on-week, compared to a 2.9% decline in the TOPIX 500 index. 899 stocks saw margin loan positions increase while 1,069 saw decreases, reflecting broader net selling pressure. The top stocks by net margin loan position were Kioxia (285A JP) at USD 4,335m, SoftBank (9984 JP) at USD 1,142m, and Tokyo Electron (8035 JP) at USD 680m. The largest weekly increases in net margin loans were in Kioxia (up USD 467m), SoftBank (up USD 155m), and Yaskawa Electric (6506 JP) (up USD 154m), while the largest decreases were in Nintendo (7974 JP) (down USD 74m), Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (9432 JP) (down USD 47m), and NEC (6701 JP) (down USD 44m).
