Abstract: We analyzed JPX margin trading positions for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of Jul 31st, finding an aggregated net margin trading position of USD 26,908m. The net margin position decreased by 2.8% week-on-week, underperforming the TOPIX 500 index which fell only 0.2%. Of the universe, 782 stocks saw margin loan positions increase while 1,212 saw positions decrease. The largest net long positions were held in Kioxia (285A JP, USD 3,478m), SoftBank (9984 JP, USD 1,066m), and Tokyo Electron (8035 JP, USD 744m). On weekly changes, Kioxia led net margin loan increases (up USD 374m), followed by Mitsubishi UFJ Financial (8306 JP, up USD 186m) and Tokyo Electron (up USD 123m), while Advantest (6857 JP) saw the steepest decline (down USD 258m, a 71.1% drop), followed by Nintendo (7974 JP, down USD 147m) and Disco (6146 JP, down USD 91m).
