JPX Margin Trading Weekly (Apr 24th): Kioxia, SoftBank, Lasertec, Nintendo, Disco, Sumitomo Pharma

Abstract: We analyzed JPX margin trading positions for stocks with market cap of at least USD100m as of April 24th, finding an aggregated net margin trading position of USD24,585m. The net margin position rose 1.6% week-on-week from USD24,186m, contrasting with the TOPIX 500 index, which declined 1.1% over the same period. 1,289 stocks saw margin loan positions increase while 761 saw decreases. The largest weekly reductions in net margin loan were in Kioxia (285A JP, down USD299m), SoftBank (9984 JP, down USD286m), Lasertec (6920 JP, down USD139m), and Sumitomo Pharma (4506 JP, down USD114m). The largest weekly increases were in Nintendo (7974 JP, up USD129m), Disco (6146 JP, up USD122m), Fast Retailing (9983 JP, up USD109m), and Furukawa Electric (5801 JP, up USD105m). By absolute net margin loan size, the top positions were Kioxia (USD1,754m), SoftBank (USD765m), Nintendo (USD623m), Mitsubishi UFJ Financial (USD604m), and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (USD480m).
