Abstract: We analyzed JPX margin trading positions as of April 3rd, covering stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m. The aggregated net margin trading position stood at USD 21,015m, up 17.8% from USD 17,842m the prior week, while the TOPIX 500 index declined 0.1% over the same period. In total, 1,083 stocks saw margin loan positions increase and 820 saw positions decrease. By absolute net position, the top holdings were SoftBank (USD 1,031m), Kioxia (USD 632m), Mitsubishi UFJ Financial (USD 589m), Advantest (USD 573m), and Nintendo (USD 453m). The largest weekly increases in net margin loan were Advantest (+USD 280m), West Japan Railway Company (+USD 150m), SoftBank (+USD 128m), Kyushu Railway Company (+USD 122m), and Edion (+USD 105m). The largest weekly decreases were Kioxia (-USD 576m), Furukawa Electric (-USD 196m), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (-USD 89m), Fast Retailing (-USD 40m), and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial (-USD 35m).
