HK Connect Flows Weekly (Aug 7th): Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi, Meituan, Knowledge Atlas, CCB, ICBC

Abstract: We analyzed southbound Hong Kong Connect flows for the week ending August 7th, estimating total inflows of USD 1,537.8 million into Hong Kong stocks by mainland investors, a reversal from outflows of USD 2,533.3 million the prior week. The HSCEI returned 2.0% over the same period. By sector, Information Technology led inflows at USD 1,487 million, followed by Consumer Discretionary at USD 509 million, while Financials saw the largest outflows at USD 1,050 million. Among individual stocks, top inflows were led by Alibaba (9988 HK, +USD 776 million), Tencent (700 HK, +USD 340 million), Xiaomi (1810 HK, +USD 274 million), Knowledge Atlas (2513 HK, +USD 234 million), and Hua Hong Semi (1347 HK, +USD 210 million). Top outflows were concentrated in Meituan (3690 HK, -USD 259 million), CCB (939 HK, -USD 215 million), ICBC (1398 HK, -USD 201 million), HSTECH ETF (3033 HK, -USD 188 million), and China Mobile (941 HK, -USD 173 million).
