Abstract: We analyzed Bursa Malaysia short interest data as of Jul 31st, covering stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m. Aggregated short interest stood at USD 1,324m, up 3.3% from USD 1,282m a week prior, outpacing the KLSE index which rose 1.4% over the same period. The largest short positions by value were Gamuda (USD 157m), Malayan Banking (USD 111m), and YTL Power International (USD 58m). The biggest weekly increases in short value were in Petronas Chemicals (+USD 8.6m, +58.3%), RHB Bank (+USD 6.4m, +53.9%), and MY EG Services (+USD 5.9m, +28.2%), while the largest short covering was seen in IHH Healthcare (-USD 1.7m), IOI Properties (-USD 1.6m), and Genting (-USD 1.3m). SNS saw the sharpest ADT-adjusted short reduction at -0.98x ADT.
