Abstract: We analyzed ASX short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of September 18th. Aggregate short interest was USD 49,772m, down 0.1% week-on-week, in line with the ASX 200 which also declined 0.1%. Among stocks with the largest weekly increases in short value, Westpac (WBC AU) led with +USD 111m, followed by Lottery (TLC AU, +USD 81m), Codan (CDA AU, +USD 80m, +537% in short value), National Australia Bank (NAB AU, +USD 80m), and Qbe Insurance (QBE AU, +USD 66m). On the decrease side, Goodman (GMG AU) saw the largest short cover at -USD 254m, followed by CSL (CSL AU, -USD 171m) and Nextdc (NXT AU, -USD 97m). We also highlight Sunrise Energy Metals (SRL AU), where short value rose +USD 62m (+236%), and TPG Telecom (TPG AU), where short value increased +USD 48m (+350%), and EQ Resources, notable for significant ADT-multiple changes.
