Abstract: We analyzed ASX short interest as of September 25th, covering stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m. Aggregate short interest totaled USD 48,967m, down 1.6% from USD 49,769m the prior week, while the ASX 200 index fell 0.8%, indicating short sellers reduced exposure at roughly twice the pace of the index decline. On the increase side, Steadfast (SDF AU) saw the largest short surge in ADT terms, rising 97.2% in short value to USD 162m (+6.7x ADT), while BHP (BHP AU) posted the biggest absolute increase at +USD 194m (+6.7%), and Wesfarmers (WES AU) added USD 87m (+11.6%). On the decrease side, Macquarie (MQG AU) saw short value fall USD 54m (-17.0%), Woodside Energy (WDS AU) declined USD 114m (-8.3%), and Ampol (ALD AU) saw short value rise USD 30m (+19.6%).
