Thailand Short Interest Weekly (Sep 18th): Delta Electronics, THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL, Bangchak

Abstract: We analyzed short interest data for the Stock Exchange of Thailand as of September 18th, covering stocks with minimum market capitalization of USD100 million and minimum short interest of USD5 million. Aggregate short interest totaled USD3,444m, up 6.0% from USD3,248m the prior week, while the SET50 index fell 0.4%, indicating a bearish divergence between short positioning and the broader market. Delta Electronics (DELTA TB) dominated the increase, with short interest rising USD111m to USD524m, a 26.9% weekly gain and a z-score of 4.8, making it the most significant mover by value, dollar change, z-score, and ADT multiple. Other notable increases include Advanced Info Service (ADVANC TB, +USD15m to USD148m), Gulf Energy Development (GULF TB, +USD12m to USD150m), and Central Plaza Hotel (CENTEL TB, +USD3m, z-score +2.8). On the decrease side, Krung Thai Bank (KTB TB) saw the largest reduction at -USD10m, followed by PTT E&P (PTTEP TB, -USD6m) and Bumrungrad Hospital (BH TB, -USD5m). THAI AIRWAYS INTERNATIONAL (THAI TB) recorded the largest percentage increase in short interest at +74.7%, with Bangchak (BCP TB) also notable at +13.0% and a z-score of 1.7.
