Abstract: We analyzed short interest data for the Stock Exchange of Thailand as of August 21st, covering stocks with minimum market capitalization of USD100 million and minimum short interest of USD5 million. Aggregate short interest totaled USD3,291 million, up 3.6% from USD3,179 million the prior week, while the SET50 index rose 0.5%, indicating short interest increased faster than the benchmark. The largest short position by value was Delta Electronics (DELTA TB) at USD426 million, followed by Airports of Thailand (AOT TB) at USD177 million and PTT E&P (PTTEP TB) at USD170 million. The biggest weekly increase in short value was Delta Electronics (Δ=+USD33 million, +8.4%), while Gulf Energy Development (GULF TB) saw the largest decrease (Δ=-USD33 million, -24.9%). TMBThanachart Bank (TTB TB) and KCE Electronics (KCE TB) also saw notable moves, with TTB short interest rising USD8 million (+18.5%) and KCE declining USD8 million (-13.1%).
