Hong Kong Buybacks Weekly (Oct 2nd): HSBC, Tencent, Bidu

Abstract: We analyzed Hong Kong Exchange buyback activity for the week ended October 2nd, covering 118 companies that repurchased a combined HKD 1,929 million in shares. Weekly buyback volume declined 18.2% from HKD 2,358 million the prior week, and the number of participating companies fell 10.6% week-over-week. The top three repurchasers for the week were HSBC (5 HK) at HKD 415.9 million, Tencent (700 HK) at HKD 401.5 million, and Bidu (9888 HK) at HKD 200.0 million. Over the trailing 30 days, Tencent led with HKD 2,108 million in buybacks, followed by Bidu at HKD 899.5 million and Bilibili (9626 HK) at HKD 784.1 million, with total 30-day market buybacks reaching HKD 11,131 million across 180 companies.
