Abstract: We analyzed JPX margin trading positions for stocks with market cap of at least USD100m as of October 2nd. The aggregated net margin trading position was USD30,228m, up 9.1% from USD27,706m a week earlier, while the TOPIX 500 index decreased 0.8% over the same period. 1,245 stocks saw their margin loan position increase and 749 stocks saw it decrease last week. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial led net margin buy increases, rising USD182m (25.1%), followed by Simplex, up USD95m, Tokyo Electron, up USD80m (12.7%), Nagoya Railroad, up USD70m, and Toyota Motor, up USD61m (21.4%). On the sell side, Advantest led net margin sell increases, falling USD158m (-132.5%), followed by Fujikura, down USD141m (-19.9%), Lasertec, down USD119m (-49.4%), Furukawa Electric, down USD87m (-20.3%), and Taiyo Yuden, down USD61m (-25.3%).
