MSCI Japan Index Earning Revision (Jun): Nissan Motor, Sony Financial, Mitsui Mining & Smelting, Orix

Abstract: We analyzed the EPS revision of MSCI Japan index constituents for June 2026, finding that the index's 2027E consensus EPS rose 2.8% month-on-month to 144.7 from 140.7, with 110 stocks revised up versus 66 revised down. The MSCI Japan index itself gained 1.8% over the month, rising from 2,438 to 2,482. On an individual stock basis, Kioxia (285A JP) was the largest positive contributor to index EPS, adding +4.9 yen, followed by Orix (+0.32 yen) and Mitsui Mining and Smelting (+0.26 yen), while Sony Financial (-0.28 yen) was the largest detractor. Among EPS revision movers, Nissan Motor led with a +68.4% increase in 2027E EPS, while Rakuten suffered the steepest cut at -32.9%, followed by Sony Financial at -30.6%.
