MSCI Australia Index Earning Revision (Aug): ANZ, CAR, Fortescue, Pro Medicus, BHP, Cochlear

Abstract: We analyzed consensus earnings revisions for MSCI Australia index components in August 2026. The index fell 0.07% from 1,784 to 1,782, with the 2026E index EPS declining 0.64% month-on-month from A$90.43 to A$89.84, as 16 stocks saw downward revisions versus 13 upward. BHP had the largest positive index EPS impact (+A$0.48) despite a 1.9% EPS cut, while CAR (-A$0.33), Cochlear (-A$0.27), and Fortescue (-A$0.18) were the top detractors. At the stock level, Fortescue (-5.5% EPS) and Pro Medicus (-5.0%) led declines, while Vicinity Centres (+4.3%) and Santos (+3.1%) posted the strongest upward revisions. ANZ saw a modest EPS increase of +0.75% and contributed +A$0.18 to index EPS.
