KRX Short Interest Weekly (May 8th): Samsung Electronics, SamsungElecMech, HYBE, LS ELECTRIC, OCI

Abstract: We analyzed KRX short interest for stocks with market cap of at least USD 100m as of May 8th, with aggregate short interest at USD 19,384m, up from USD 18,406m the prior week. Short interest rose 5.3% week-on-week, while the KOSPI index gained 13.6% over the same period. The largest weekly increases in short value were in MIRAE ASSET SEC (+USD 138m), Hanmi Semi (+USD 96m), LS ELECTRIC (+USD 95m), SamsungElecMech (+USD 88m), and HYBE (+USD 56m). The largest decreases were in OCI (down USD 51m, -45.1%), HLB (down USD 29m), APR (down USD 29m), and HDHMS (down USD 28m). By absolute short value, Hanmi Semi (USD 1,390m), Hyundai Motor (USD 1,372m), and HD HYUNDAI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (USD 1,193m) remain the most shorted names on the exchange.
