Abstract: We analyzed KRX short interest for stocks with market capitalization of at least USD100m as of August 14th, with aggregate short interest totaling USD18,698m, up from USD17,281m a week prior. Short interest increased 8.2% over the week, while the KOSPI index rose 11.5% over the same period, indicating short sellers added exposure at a slower pace than the broader market rally. On the increase side, SK Hynix saw the largest weekly rise in short value at +USD501m (up 1,668%), followed by Samsung Electronics (+USD364m, up 40%) and Hanmi Semi (+USD110m, up 13%). On the decrease side, Samsung F&M Insurance recorded the largest short reduction at -USD86m (down 68%), followed by HANWHA SOLUTIONS (-USD64m, down 66%) and Hanwha Ocean (-USD51m, down 26%).
