JPX Margin Trading Weekly (Mar 27th): Fujikura, SoftBank, Sanrio, West Japan Railway Company

Abstract: We analyzed JPX margin trading positions as of Mar 27th, with the aggregated net margin trading position at US$17,856m, down 24.1% from US$23,527m the prior week, while the TOPIX 500 index rose 1.1%. Of 1,918 stocks tracked, 313 saw margin loan increases (going long) while 1,605 saw decreases (going short), indicating broad-based deleveraging. On the sell side, Fujikura (5803 JP) led with a US$221m weekly decrease in net margin position (-42.0%), followed by SoftBank (9984 JP) at -US$209m (-17.9%), Sanrio (8136 JP) at -US$142m (-44.4%), and West Japan Railway Company (9021 JP) at -US$123m. On the buy side, Advantest (6857 JP) posted the largest weekly increase at +US$83m (+30.6%), followed by Kioxia (285A JP) at +US$79m (+7.3%) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (7011 JP) at +US$37m (+8.5%).
