Abstract: We analyzed ASX short interest for stocks with market capitalization of at least USD 100m as of March 27th, with aggregate short interest of USD 36,485m, down 0.4% from USD 36,635m the prior week, while the ASX 200 index rose 1.0%. On the increases side, BHP led with short value rising USD 228m (+14.1%), followed by Pilbara Minerals (+USD 144m, +21.4%), Suncorp (+USD 87m, +62.5%), and Medibank Private (+USD 62m, +42.7%); Technology One also saw a notable increase of USD 32m (+32.0%). On the decreases side, National Australia Bank saw the largest short cover of USD 240m (-21.6%), followed by Macquarie (-USD 89m, -27.9%) and Whitehaven Coal (-USD 49m, -44.1%). By ADT multiple, Meridian Energy saw the largest weekly increase of 16.4x, while Contact Energy declined 4.7x.
